I just finished reading a science fiction book, Reamde by Neal Stephenson.  An interesting read about the use of Ransomware.  Be careful on the net.

The best Post on the Blog this week was What to use When on Office 365.  A great article on what application in Office 365 to use for common work scenarios.

My Intranet Portal User adoption is the key to any rollout.  I am working on some steps to drive user adoption.

Here is a quote I have been pondering “There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.”  Jiddu Krishnamurti

I am listening to The Steve Miller Band through Alexa on Pandora.

I just finished the book The McKinsey Edge: Success Principles from the World’s Most Powerful Consulting Firm.  The McKinsey Edge culls the best practices of an exclusive group of executives and consultants from McKinsey & Company, the legendary consulting firm that services eighty percent of the world’s largest corporations.

On Linkedin, when you congratulate someone on a new job, birthday, or a job anniversary, send a great quote, like: Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. –  Thomas Edison

I am starting a Intranet Portal Redesign project for a new client.  I am looking forward helping them add value with SharePoint.  Driving Adoption is the key.

Here is the most viewed Post from Level 5 PMO. What is the Agile Mindset?

Five point for Friday

It is almost the weekend and the weather has finally cooled off here in Texas.  I have the the fire pit lit and s’mores roasting.

I am listening to one of my favorite’s Blues Traveler.

I just finished – The Fourth Turning: An American Prophecy – What the Cycles of History Tell Us About America’s Next Rendezvous with Destiny. Strauss and Howe will change the way you see the world–and your place in it.

Quote I am pondering – “Over a period of time (roughly 100 years) a world power emerges from a global war only to experience a gradual decay in its position of preponderance,” writes Thompson. “Global order decays at a parallel rate until a new global war occurs and facilitates the emergence of a new world power.”
― William Strauss, The Fourth Turning: An American Prophecy

Project I am working on – I am taking my content marketing knowledge and applying it to a passion of Intranet Portals.

Success Quote  – “Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again.” – Richard Branson

Five Points for Friday

It is almost the weekend. Here is what I am working on, thinking about, and enjoying.

Music I am listening to – Blues March by Art Lathy

Here is a Quote that I am pondering.  “Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do.” –Dr. Benjamin Spock

Project that I am working on – Learning all I can about Content Marketing.  Here is a good list to jump start your understanding.

What am I reading? – I just finished reading for a fourth time The Little Teal book of Trust, a great refresher on how to earn trust.  Explore Jeff’s Website for more information.  A great speaker and extensive knowledge on how to market and sell.

Project Success  – You can measure most parts of a successful project, is a myth.  It is the things that can’t be measured that are important.

Five Point for Friday

It is almost the weekend. Here is what I am working on, thinking about, and enjoying.

What I am listening to – Miles Davis on Alexa from Spotify.  What an awesome appliance.

Project I am working on – Creating my perfect Profile Pic with

What I am Reading – I love to read, one way to continue to read and do other activities is with audilble.com.  This week I have been listening to One Year After by William R. Forstchen a sequel to his hit novel One Second After. Months before publication, One Second After was cited on the floor of Congress as a book all Americans should read, a book discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a truly realistic look at the dangers of EMPs. Great story of what actualy could happen.  From an Agile perspective, the story shows that you need to work the problems that give the best value to the community.

Quote that I am Thinking about this week — Tom Peters has been a fan of mine for as long as I can remember.  I had an economics professor say that to improve you had to Tom Peter it.  “Boss: Observe yourself closely over the next 60 MINUTES. Did you LISTEN more than you talked?” As a project manager I have learned this lesson.  It is not to late to change.

Agile Success Criteria –  “A Bias for Action.” I, too, concluded that big businesses’s #1 problem is still, “Too much talk, too little do.” Confirmed with Tom Peters
